Privacy

What we collect.

Short version: anonymous counters on the website, Google Analytics only with your consent, contact messages only to answer them, and anonymous statistics from the app that you can switch off.

Website

Every page asks our own server to add one to a page-view counter, and clicking a download adds one to a download counter. These requests carry no cookie and no ID. Your IP address is kept in memory for a few minutes to count one visit per half hour and to block floods; it is never written to disk. The web server keeps no access log.

The site runs behind Cloudflare, which processes every request to deliver and protect it (Cloudflare privacy policy). Fonts, scripts and 3D models are served from w-deck.com itself.

Cookies and Google Analytics

Only if you agree, the site loads Google Analytics, which sets _ga cookies to tell repeat visits apart and sends usage data to Google. Without consent it is never loaded. Change your choice any time with ; declining removes the cookies again. The site itself sets no cookies; your choice is kept in your browser's local storage.

Contact form

What you send through the contact form (topic, name, email, message, an optional link and any pictures you attach) is stored on our server so we can answer, and deleted once it is dealt with. Your IP address is used for a short time only to limit how many messages one connection can send.

Desktop app

The Wdeck app sends a short report to w-deck.com when it starts and then every 30 minutes: a random installation ID created on your PC, the app version, the Windows version, whether a Wdeck is connected and which model, and how long the app has been running. When it installs an update it reports the old and new version.

If the app crashes it sends the error report (Python traceback); your Windows user folder is replaced by ~ before it leaves the PC. Layouts, pictures, program names and anything you type are never sent.

Switch it off in the app under Settings → General → Privacy; it applies immediately. The update check only downloads update.json from w-deck.com.

How long

App statistics: the latest report of each installation, daily totals for about a year, and at most the 500 newest crash reports. Contact messages: until they are answered and deleted. Page-view and download totals are plain counters.

Your rights

Ask what is stored about you or your installation, or for it to be deleted, at [email protected]. For app data include the installation ID from telemetry_id.txt in the Wdeck data folder (About Wdeck → Open data folder). You can also complain to your data protection authority; in the Czech Republic that is the ÚOOÚ.
